Beat the Sweet Tooth: Create Roadblocks

We know how difficult it can be to resist the urge for processed snacks. But what if we told you there’s a simple technique you can use to overcome these cravings and stick to eating well more consistently? We call it creating “roadblocks.”

Introducing the concept of “roadblocks.” This strategy involves creating a gap between the moment you feel the craving and the moment you reach for the snack. One of the best ways to do this is to eat a piece of fruit, such as an apple, banana, orange, papaya, or mango, whenever you have a sudden craving for processed sweets.

This not only delays the gratification, which is essential when forming new habits, but also satisfies your craving with something more nutrient-dense and satiating. By the time you do reach for the processed snack, you’ll likely have a full stomach and will be less likely to overeat or even avoid it altogether. This strategy has been used with great success at CrossFit Ceylon in our nutrition protocols, and we believe it will work for you too.

Next time you feel a craving for processed sweets, create a roadblock with a piece of fruit and see the difference it makes.
